Moonlit Deception

As I prowl the moonlit streets, memories of my former life still haunt me. I was once a dedicated officer, upholding the law with honor. But fate had a cruel twist in store. It started with a routine call, a disturbance in the woods. My partner, Alex, and I ventured into the darkness, unaware of the horrors awaiting us.

A monstrous creature, something dark with animalistic instincts, emerged from the shadows, its fangs bared. In the chaos that ensued, I felt its searing bite pierce my flesh. I shouted out “Get the fuck off of me!”.

One fateful night, I found myself face to face with Alex, who had been tracking the monster. “I’ve finally found you, beast,” he muttered to himself, his voice cold and resolute.

As he raised his stake, I tried to reach out to him, but my voice was silenced by the beast within. Alex plunged the stake into my heart, and I felt my body convulse, the curse breaking its hold. I transformed back into my human form, leaving Alex distraught and horrified.

“Oh, dear God… John? What have I done?” he whispered, his eyes wide with shock and grief.

As I lay there, lifeless, Alex’s realization dawned on him – he had slain his own partner, unaware of the true monster’s identity. The town would never be safe until the true monster was vanquished…
