Hear Me (Poem) | A Reflection on Life

A few days ago, I wrote a poem titled “Hear me!”—a piece that feels deeply personal to me. As I reflect on 35 extraordinary years, I feel blessed to carry the lessons I’ve learned, and poetry has become one of the ways I express that gratitude. I share this poem in hopes it touches someone…

Do you like poetry?

If you’re into poetry, then you’re in for a treat! Below is a poem I wrote just a couple of days ago titled “Hear me!” (and yes, the title will take you straight to my poetry page if you click on it!). I’m curious to see if Plot-Pulse readers enjoy a little bit of poetry. Here’s the deal: if this post gets more likes or comments than my usual content, I’ll be adding more poems to the mix. If not, well, this might be the one and only. What do you think—should poetry stick around?

Hear me!

Father, Father

I feel you, but we haven’t spoken in a while.
I understand sometimes we can be distant.
I understand that I can be busy.

I feel that we have grown further away than the clouds covering the sky.
Even though it is raining, it still reminds me of the time you dried my eyes—
the time you held me when I needed it most,
the help you gave when nobody else would.

Right now, I am free.
But, unfortunately, I am not sure how long.
Father, if you hear me, I need to tell you something:
I have a confession to make. Several, even.

Father, without you, life wouldn’t have been possible.
Without you, I think I wouldn’t have the ability to conjure a thought—
the same thoughts that you gave me and confided in me to have,
the same energy you gave, now building blocks to my pathways.

Father, if you hear me, you gave me courage—
when not an ounce in my bones,
when I needed to control myself,
when I was lost.
You made me a fierce soul, fighting a world of demons.

Father, you picked me up, even after we fought.
You taught me lesson after lesson, and I was ignorant.
I wasn’t aware of what ignorance was,
and that unawareness is what you showed me.
For that, I am grateful.

Most of all, Father,
I am grateful you showed me strength in myself.
Even if it goes unnoticed,
even if I fail,
time and time again, you’ve shown me: I can be me!

I’m thrilled to share that my latest poem made the Front Page on allpoetry.com, a platform with a vibrant, supportive community. It’s been read by quite a few people in just two days—not millions, but I’m grateful for every reader. Writing this poem meant a great deal to me, and maybe, just maybe, it’ll speak to someone in a meaningful way. At the end of the day, staying true to myself is what matters most, and I hope you feel the same. Even when I use AI to refine my work, the heart, the voice, and the emotion are entirely mine. And I hope everyone can see that.
